The following appeared in the May 1998 issue of International Railway
"Skoda Transportation Systems, Czech Republic, has won an international
tender from Russian Railways (RZD) for 20 sets of IGBT electrical
equipment, worth USD 41 million. The sets will be fitted to 10 high-power
class EP 30 (3kV dc) and 10 high-power EP 300 (25kV 50 Hz) eight-axle
locomotives being built bu Kolomensky Zavod, near Moscow"
"Skoda is refurbishing nine of RZD's class CS 200 3kV dc express
locomotives, originally supplied for the 1980 Olympic Games. New
equipment to be installed includes pantographs, auxiliary motors,
controlling relays, IGBT braking choppers, axles and suspensions."
